Once you submit the form, a Certified Reading Vision Coach will contact you to schedule your 15-minute, one-on-one Reading Vision Assessment with Dr. McMurray or another Reading Vision Assessment Specialist. The assessment is completed online through Zoom, so your child can participate from home.
For the assessment, please position your camera as close to eye-level as possible so that during the Reading Vision Assessment we can clearly observe your child's eye movement while reading and have good lighting on their face.
What Happens During the Assessment?
As your child follows a pointer, the Specialist will observe and analyze their eye-movement patterns.
We're looking for clues that may help explain why reading feels harder than it should.
The cost of the Reading Vision Assessment is $125. If someone referred you and provided you with a Referral/Coupon Code, then you can enter that into Step 2 of the checkout form.
What Happens Next After the Assessment?
After the Assessment, you'll immediately meet separately with your assigned Reading Vision Coach via Zoom.
During this consultation we'll:
Walk you through what we observed
Explain what may be interfering with reading
Answer your questions
Discuss whether the Eyes Up Reading approach may help with the issues identified
Recommend the next steps
If we see signs that could indicate a clinical eye condition, we'll recommend that you follow-up with an appropriate licensed eye-care professional for medical evaluation and diagnosis.
For non-medical eye-tracking difficulties, we may recommend targeted eye exercises paired with individualized reading instruction.
If You Decide to Work With Us
Eyes Up Reading coaching is completely one-on-one.
You and your child will typically meet with your Reading Vision Coach twice a week for 30-minute sessions via Zoom.
Because the Coach works directly with your child, they can observe eye-tracking problems during reading, provide individualized reading instruction, and adjust exercises as your child progresses.
While other companies charge $150 to $200 per session, with programs lasting up to 9 months, our coaching sessions are:
Adults (ages 18+): just $59 per session
Children & Youth (ages 4-17): only $39 per session
Every reader is different, so the duration of time needed varies. Many children work with us for approximately 6 months, and most start seeing improvement within 30 days, while adult programs typically require only 6 to 8 weeks.
In addition to the cost for the sessions, we ask all new clients to purchase a Training Kit when they get billed for their first Coaching session.
Included in the kit are:
all the custom-built tools you will need for the eye exercises,
a collection of custom-built buttons which serve as prizes as your child passes each level in our program,
a custom lanyard to hold all the award buttons,
printed eye-exercise instructions,
a 100 eye-exercise challenge.
The Training Kit is $45. However, if there are two siblings going through our Reading Vision Coaching program at the same time, then instead of paying for 2 separate kits for $80, we can combine the two sets into the same kit for just $70.
Our goal isn't to simply give your child more reading practice.
It's to understand what may be getting in the way, and give them a different way forward.
